     Christopher Ritter of Warsaw has been selected for membership in the National Society of High school Scholars. The society inducts only the most outstanding high school students and honors them for superior academic achievement. The society selects students nationally and awards this distinction on a limited basis. Membership is by invitation only, extended by chairman Claes Nobel.

    The pupils and staff at Lincoln Elementary school recently observed BEAR (Become Excited About Reading) week. Activities designed to promote the pleasure and importance of reading were scheduled. They also participated in Wear-A-Word Day, Storybook Character Day and Wear-A-Bear Day. Those participating in Storybook Character Day were: Raymond Myers (Tin Man); Melissa Hall (Dorothy); Dorothy VanCleve (Amelia Bedelia); Josh Goodstein (Donald Duck); David Grossnickle (Robin Hood; and Chris Hodge (Pinocchio).

    Officers and directors of the Baker Boys’ Club met recently at Petro’s restaurant to hear a report of a recently concluded boy situation study and an evaluation of the present program and to honor one of its members for long tenure. Vice President Reub Williams was presented the  Boys’ Clubs of America bronze keystone for more than 20 years of service to the local organization. The award was presented by E.F. Van Billiard, mid-west regional director.

    Charles Kelly, Virgil Bibler, Carl Bibler and Ed Leedy of Warsaw attended a meeting of the Red Men’s Lodge recently at Indianapolis at which 500 were present. It is reported that 956 new candidates were initiated in the recent drive.
