    The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference women's basketball team.

Jaime Wilson, Manchester College senior, was selected for the All-HCAC first team after averaging 11.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

    Army Pvt. Kyle W. Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack D. Hathaway, Silver Lake, has completed the field artillery firefinder radar operator course at Fort Sill, Okla.

During the course, students were taught to operate artillery and mortar firefinder radars to locate hostile firing weapons for the purpose of adjusting friendly artillery positions.

    Mr. and Mrs. Jay Becknell, of 422 N. Bronson St., in OUR TOWN, sent us a clipping from the New Port Richey, Fla., newspaper, telling of the 26-pound "black grouper" fish caught by Mrs. Becknell while fishing in the Gulf. Mrs. Becknell received a $5 prize from the Port Richey Chamber of Commerce for her catch.

    Coach Walter Kindy's championship Beaver Dam quintet, season's county champs and defenders of sectional honors, narrowly escaped defeat in the semi-final round of the sectional tourney, ekeing out a narrow victory over the cogent Mentone five in the last 13 seconds of play when Gerald Bidelman, giant Beaver center, made a beautiful one-handed toss from the 17-foot zone to give his team victory, 12 to 10.
