   On March 6 a group of Lakeland Christian Academy students will join with Hands of Hope International on a Missions Trip to Guatemala. The students from LCA will be exposed to this Third World country and will develop a deeper awareness for the need of missions. Among those going to Guatemala are: Zach Jetter, Liz Hand, Shaun Pitts, Jessica Baker, Stephanie Kramer, Jonathan Damon, Alyssa Ashton, and Art Blaker.

    More than 100 Warsaw Middle School students will be traveling to Washington, D.C. this coming June. “I was contacted in December about a tour group going to D.C.,” said tour director Dave Baumgartner. Baumgartner is a social studies teacher at the Middle School. “We showed a film to all the kids and sent home the tour information and the response has been phenomenal,” said Baumgartner. “I think it is really neat that so many of our students’ parents want to give them this educational opportunity.”

    Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Overmeyer, of Winona Lake, have recently left for a vacation in the southern states. The Overmeyers will spend most of their vacation in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Mrs. Overmeyer will return the last of May, while Mr. Overmeyer will return after Easter.

    The Warsaw High School county championship debaters, who won the beautiful 17-inch gold trophy awarded by The Daily Times were: Donna Hudson, Baja Rowdabaugh,  Isobel Rarick, veteran debater, and Hal Pottenger. Their Instructor was Harold Crabill. The decision was awarded the Warsaw team  in a debate with the Topeka High School team in the last of the contests of the district tournament.
