    WCHS Percussion Ensemble senior Mike Cotton received a $750 scholarship at the Indiana Percussion Association Indoor Winter Percussion state finals Saturday. He was one of five recipients of scholarship awards. Mike’s parents are Ron And JoAnn Cotton. Mickey Ratliff, WCHS band director, nominated Mike for the scholarship.

    The “Seven Sisters Cookbook,” published by FundCraft Publishing Co., Colliersville, Tenn., takes much of its origin from our fair city, according to Vivian Frantz. Three of the seven sisters, Verdella Robinson, Velva Jean Gray and Frantz, are all Warsaw residents. Janet Betz, Frantz’s daughter who also lives in the Lake City, designed the front cover.

    Dave Johnson, outstanding senior center on the Warsaw High School basketball team, received the Central Indiana Conference “Player of the Year” trophy from Curtis Garber, editor of The Times-Union. Dave led all CIC scorers with 217 points in 10 games, including a record-breaking 42 points against Tipton. He plans to enroll at Purdue next fall.

   Miss Mary Loretta Olmstead, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. B.L. Olmstead, of Winona Lake, is making a 10-day tour with the a capella mixed chorus of Greenville College, Greenville, Ill. The group will make appearances in Hillsboro, Springfield, St. Charles, and Chicago, Ill., Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Oskaloosa, La., and other cities.
