Competing in the Scholastic Arts Awards Contest in South Bend were: Darcy Bonewitz, Brooke Heaton, Jena Hollinger, Kelsey Alcom, Hilary O’Connell, Nikki Smith, Ashley Ransbottom, Richard Martin, Drew Etienne, Wendy Trueblood, Kallie Kirkendall, Stephanie Bentley, Joe Anglin and Phil Dillon.

Ten years of abandonment has taken its toll on the Murphy Medical Center, and city officials appear to be poised to destroy the former 78-bed hospital in the near future. While much remains intact in the four-story structure, the 46-year-old building is now an unsafe haven for vandals and vagrants.

According to an unofficial “round-figure” report, Warsaw High School Band Boosters and band members served the largest crowd in the 12-year history of the Band Boosters fish fry, at the Warsaw school armory Saturday night. Although some difficulty was experienced, fryers couldn’t keep up with the eaters, and shortage of fish during the last hour, 1,700 paying guests were served fish at the armory. Another 1,000 carry-outs were purchased at the carry-out window for a total of 2,700.

The following students from North Manchester College arrived at their homes in Winona Lake and Warsaw to spend the Easter vacation: Judson Lytle, Blaine Mikesell, Miss Arleen Cansdale and Reed Dubois. Roy McIntyre and Maurice Crause, who accompanied the group, chauffeured by D.B. Mikesell, were en route to their home in South Bend and Savanna, Ill.
