    The Purdue Cooperative Extension Service recently observed its annual meeting.

The first annual "Friend of Extension" award was presented to Louise Nichols. She has been active in Indiana Extension Homemakers on the local, county, state, national and international levels. She helped start an additional scholarship fund for adults through Extension Homemakers.

March 26 1982

    A Milford Elementary School sixth-grader correctly spelled "climatology" and went on to win the Kosciusko County Spelling Bee at the First United Methodist Church Warsaw, after spelling "contagious."

Lisa Kaiser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kaiser, Milford, will represent the county in district competition in Fort Wayne in April.

March 26 1957

    Leesburg students took first place in the team division at the Kosciusko County 4-H and Future Farmers of America dairy cattle judging contest. Perry Hathaway, of Burket, had the highest individual score.

Leesburg's team, coached by William James, had a score of 909. Robert Stevens, John Stookey, Nelson Sutton and Glen Kammerer are members.

    NORTH MANCHESTER - Mildred Meyer, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J.G. Meyer of North Manchester, was named May queen and will preside over the festivities to be held at Manchester College May 6. She is a member of the junior class and succeeds Alma Miller, also of North Manchester, who presided as queen for the past year.
