The Knights of Columbus Father Francis Pitka Council 6323 recently held its annual free-throw contest. Winners were Jeffrey Yeatts, Abby Signorelli, Brennon McAdams, Chas McAdams, Chas Amadeo, Kristin Lumaitre, Tylor Trobaugh, Alexis Wilson, Kayla Rhodes and John Adams.

The Salvation Army recently honored its volunteers. Those volunteers included Lt. and Mrs. Jeffrey Smith, Carol Pauluhn, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church; Marilyn Ketrow, First United Methodist Church; Ruby Horn, North Winona Church of the Brethren; Marge Gast, store chairman; Marge Luecke, First Presbyterian Church; and Pat Jungels, Sacred Heart. Approximately 70 people attended the luncheon.

The Kosko Toastmasters, only seven months old, won out in its first district speaking contest, Saturday night, as representative Robert Stender took first place in the state Toastmaster’s Area One district finals. Stender of Warsaw, defeated four other area champions – one from Huntington and three from Fort Wayne – at the contest, which was held in Huntington. Stender’s subject was “My Brand of Management.”

Roger Sanders, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.C. Sanders, Warsaw, and John Marshall, of Warsaw, both members of the debating team at Hanover College, Hanover, Ind., will debate Friday and Saturday at Chicago. On Friday the boys will debate Lake Forest College and on Saturday will meet the John Marshall law school in debate, which will be broadcast over station WJJD, Chicago.
