    Brittney Elkins, a sixth-grade student at Eisenhower Elementary, was accepted as a People to People Student Ambassador. She will be a part of the South Bend-area delegation that will visit France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland this summer.

People to People was founded in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to promote world peace and international understanding through direct contact between private citizens.

March 26 1984

    A beautifully decorated chocolate log took first place in the cake category at the fourth-annual Times-Union Recipe Contest Taste-Off.

Marilyn Temple, Warsaw, a multi-year winner at previous taste-offs, won first prize with Chocolate Log Cake.

March 26 1959

    Diana Castildi placed second in the American Legion district oratorical contest at Kentland. Diane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Castildi, Warsaw, was the Kosciusko County entrant.

Judy Knapp, of Rochester, who took first place in the district, will advance to the zone contest.

75 Years Ago

March 26 1934

    Robert Jones of this city recently claimed the distinction of being the first Warsawan to go swimming this year. Twice Sunday he took plunges in Chapman Lake.
