Leedy was fresh from medical school when he arrived and formed a medical firm with Dr. Crihfield. When Dr. Crihfield died, Dr. Leedy carried on with the practice and was made surgeon of the 74th Indiana Infantry during the Civil War. Dr. Schellhouse was an early doctor, but he did not stay in Warsaw very long. Dr. Jacob Boss, born in Switzerland, came to America at age 18. Much of his success was due to the “sweating process” he would perform.
