   The rising cost of fuel is beginning to hurt gasoline-dependent businesses. As of Friday, Indiana’s average gas prices were $1.67 per gallon for standard fuel and $1.75 per gallon for diesel, according to the AAA Hoosier Motor Club. A year ago drivers paid 99 cents and $1.15 per gallon. So how are businesses coping with the higher fuel prices? Most are passing on the costs to customers.

   Warsaw Community High School and NorthWood girls basketball teams each placed three girls on the All-Northern Lakes Conference basketball team in voting done by the conference coaches. The Tigers, who won the league title with a perfect 7-0 record, and NorthWood were the only teams to place three players on the first team. Those Warsaw players selected were juniors Ginnette Dunwell and Nicole Ryman and sophomore Angie Johnson.

   Rehearsals are now in progress for “The Silver Whistle,” a rollicking comedy to be presented by the senior speech class Tuesday and Wednesday in the Warsaw Community School auditorium. Claudia Sanderson and Anne Blackford play a double-cast part as the supervisor of the home, and Mike Valentine plays Oliver Erwenter, the tramp. The play takes place in a dreary home for old people. All of the students in the senior speech class are assisting in the production of the play.

   Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wagner and William Boggess returned to their homes near Warsaw late Saturday night after spending the past few days in Columbus, Ohio where they were delegates to the Pittsburg Livestock Association convention. They also visited with relatives and friends in Wooster, Ohio.
