10 Years Ago Eric Scott and Chelsy Rhoades were the District 2 winners in the 12-13 age group at the Elks Hoop Shoot Contest. The two competed at the state contest in Lebanon in late February. Scott, a student at Edgewood Middle School, won the state competition. Rhoades attends Tippecanoe Valley Middle School. Also present was Bob Lichenwalter, chairman of the Warsaw Elks No. 802 Hoop Shoot.
25 Years Ago This Mexican recipe was a 1st place winner in the Spotlight Recipe Contest for Pina Colada Chicken.
Drain pineapple, reserve juice; set pineapple aside. Combine pineapple juice and next 5 ingredients. Place chicken in a lightly greased 12x8x2" baking dish; add pineapple juice mixture. Marinate in refrigerator 1 hour. Bake, uncovered, at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees; bake 20 minutes. Top with pineapple slices and maraschino cherries. 50 Years Ago Seventeen Warsaw High School speech students who received ribbons for their work in the sectional tourney sponsored here recently by the Indiana High School Forensic Association are Kerry Anglin, Betty Kaufman, Linda Becher, Diane Long and Virginia Arnold; Geoff Gerard, Chuck Cunningham, Dick Kehoe, Pat Ellis and Marsha Thompson; Syd Martin, Mike Valentine and Jeanne Tuka; Bob Flinn, Tony Van Osdol and Jack Schutz. Thirteen qualified for the state semi-finals in Elkhart March 31.
75 Years Ago Mr. and Mrs. N. Bruce, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lytle, and Mr. and Mrs. Mikesell of Winona Lake, Dr. and Mrs. C.C. DuBois and Mr. and Mrs. Royal Pottenger of Warsaw are among the parents who will be entertained Saturday evening at Manchester College. The fathers will enjoy the annual fathers and son banquet while the mothers will be entertained in an adjacent room.
