    The Pierceton Canasta met March 4 at the Pierceton nutrition site, with Bev Garmon as hostess and five members present.

Canasta was played with high won by Alice Meeks and low by Garmon. Meeks also won the door prize.

March 21 1983

    Kim Kleeman is $35 richer as top prize winner of the Times-Union Valentine Best Kiss Imprint Contest. Anne Burns was second and Teresa Rowe was third, both winning $15. They were selected from nearly 300 entries. From that 300, the lip imprints of 84 semifinalists were selected for publication in an issue of The Times-Union. And from then on, it was up to the readers.

March 21 1958

    SYRACUSE - Syracuse is the Kosciusko County junior high school basketball champion, thanks to Francis Denton's game-winning basket in a sudden-death overtime session, defeating Pierceton 42-40 in the final game of the annual tournament at Claypool.

Other team members are Larry Line, John Lantz, Jimmy Felts, Marvin Coy, Ronnie Cramer, Steve Williams, Richard Bitner, Steve Yoder and Richard Kowallik. They are coached by Loren Longenbaugh.

March 21 1933

    Mr. and Mrs. "Fode" Cormany were given an old-fashioned belling at their home west of Leesburg by about 100 of their neighbors and friends. The couple, married a few days ago at Goshen, was completely surprised. They treated with candy and cigars. Later in the evening, Mr. and Mrs. Cormany and the bellers went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Parks, near Clunette, to bell another recently married couple, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Parks.
