    James and Marsha Kilgore were at the Warsaw City Council meeting to honor the woman who saved their lives.
Jackie Treft, dispatcher for Warsaw Police Department, received a plaque from Chief Craig Allebach and Mayor Ernie Wiggins for "going beyond what is normally expected." Treft's response to a 911 call and her concern and follow-through were responsible for saving the Kilgores' lives after their near-fatal exposure to carbon monoxide.

    DECATUR - Matt Hampton, a former Warsaw Community High School wrestler, was named the outstanding wrestler in last weekend's AAU freestyle tournament. Hampton won the 167-pound division with an 8-0 record.

March 20 1957

    Olympian Max Truex, of Warsaw, set a new two-mile run record for the Milwaukee Journal track carnival when he raced to victory in 8:56.7.
It was even more remarkable considering that this was the first time Truex, a Southern California University junior, had ever run on the indoor boards.

    NORTH MANCHESTER - Vernon Van Dyke, son of Mr. and Mrs. I.C. Van Dyke of Winona Lake, was elected president of the student body of Manchester College for next year. He was chosen from the men in the junior class by the entire student group of 600 to head the new government.
