10 Years Ago Several ordinances and resolutions were approved recently by the Syracuse Town Council, including a resolution designating Thursday as "Shanna Zolman Day." According to Syracuse Town Manager Brian Redshaw, the Zolman Day ordinance tries "to list all the things she's accomplished. There's more to come." The resolution and a plaque will be presented to Zolman, possibly at her open house this week.
25 Years Ago Steve Sands, Silver Lake, was the grand prize winner of a satellite dish presented from Farm Industry News, Agri-Sat, and Zenith. Sands was congratulated by John O'Neill, of Agri-Sat, who installed the satellite dish. Sands won the prize in a drawing at the national farm equipment show in Louisville, Ky. in February.
50 Years Ago Lois Gardner, a Warsaw High School junior, receives the "grand prize" trophy at the third annual Science Fair, which drew big crowds of viewers to the local school armory Friday afternoon and night. Lois, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson Gardner, of Wooster Road, received the trophy for her metamorphosis of butterflies exhibit. Making the presentation was Howard Thompson, chairman of the awards and program committee, Supt. of Schools Carl Burt, and Science Fair General Chairman Lowell Knoop.
75 Years Ago Mr. and Mrs. Nick Mallers and daughter, Bessie Ann, and Miss Bessie Cochifa will go to visit with the former's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Mallers, who are leaving on Saturday, March 27, for Europe. The Mallers will sail on the Saturnia. They expect to remain several months in Europe and attend the coronation ceremony in England.
