The Health Care Foundation of Kosciusko County bid farewell to two board members whose tenure ended in 2004, Diane Winn and Dot Wysong. Winn has served on the board since 1999; Wysong began her tenure in 2000. Both were integral members of the Festival of Trees planning committee. Joy Loyse, board president, presented each with a Resolution of Appreciation and a hand-painted lamp in honor of their service.
Lakeland Christian Academy senior Dan Yocum, son of Tim and Cindy Yocum, has signed his letter-of-intent to continue his education and soccer career at Grace College. Warsaw Community High School senior Adam Churchill, son of Jim and Laurie Churchill, plans his soccer career at the University of Southern Indiana.

“Gotta Dance,” the 1990 Wawasee Community School Corp. music festival, is March 9 in the Wawasee High School gymnasium. Performers include all members of every choir, band and orchestra from the Syracuse, Milford and North Webster elementary and middle schools.
The City/County Athletic Complex board has agreed to put the CCAC on 61 acres owned by R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. and 20 acres owned by Forrest and Kathryn Bouse. Zimmer wants to put their building on the old freshman high school property, so the ball fields need to be relocated. Once the ball fields are moved, work on Center Lake Park can proceed this spring, with possibly two or three lighted basketball courts and lots of flowers.

Norman Geible, eighth grade, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Merrell Geible, is the 1965 Syracuse Junior High School spelling champion; Pam Troyer came in second. Karen Allen, fifth grade, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Allen, is the elementary school winner with Joel Burkholder coming in second and Mary Ellen Clayton third.
Ned Igo’s Mentone Service Center, corner of West Maine and Walnut streets, is having a grand opening. Sonny Nellans is an attendant.
Syracuse High School National Honor Society gold pins receipients are Gerri Lou Bauer, Rosemary Bushong, Jane Cecil, Linda Pilcher, Cassie Wells, Bessie Wolfe, David Jones, Lynn Pittman and George Lung.

Three deluxe rooms at McDonald Hospital are now completely furnished. Dr. A.C. McDonald, after whom the hospital was named, and wife, are vacationing in Florida. DePuy splint company’s Herschel Leiters and Mrs. A.W. Lemme, aunt of Warsaw’s Dr. J.R. Baum, equipped rooms in east and west wing additions.
Three of Warsaw’s cultured and ambitious young men have just completed a short course in hospital nurse training and first aid service at McDonald Hospital. They are John Edwards, Bruce Howe and Junior Sims. Their friends can now address them as “Doctor.”
Local police are cracking down on traffic violators. School signs permit only 15 miles an hour speed within zones. Many motorists either can’t read or cars are built so fast, it’s hard to “idle” them at that rate.
