     Lake Village Pizza Hut, Warsaw, got a little surprise: colored pictures and a thank-you letter from Monica Smith’s kindergarten class at Sacred Heart School. The students appreciated their tour of Pizza Hut, learning about dough and pizza making and many other things surrounding the unit’s operation. The visit and a picture of manager Cal Roe were featured on the “Customer Mania” page of Pizza Hut’s magazine.

    The Warsaw Schools Board plans to make the public auction of the old freshman school property as open as possible with the use of a pre-auction hearing. The planned public hearing, which could be scheduled in two weeks,  will be used to receive input from the public, set guidelines and clear up any questions about the process, said Dr. Larry Crabb, school superintendent.

    Phil Payne, 30, of North Webster, was named recipient of the Warsaw Junior Chamber of Commerce “Outstanding Young Man of the Year” award in ceremonies at Horn’s Restaurant in Warsaw. Also receiving awards at the Distinguished Service Award “Bosses Night Banquet” were Gordon Sand, chosen “Outstanding Jaycee,” and Frank Kealey, who received the newly-given “President’s Trophy.” Senator Paul Bilby was the featured speaker at the banquet.

    Mr. and Mrs. George Gunter of near Sidney will leave for an extended trip to Phoenix, Ariz., and Los Angeles, Cal., where they will visit with relatives. Mrs. Gunter has been employed for the past year as a registered nurse at the McDonald Hospital.
  Stanley Boggs, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Boggs of Mentone, has been awarded a scholarship for another year at Harvard University.
