Mike Valentine, a Warsaw High School junior, demonstrated his science fair project on the “theory of probability” as he rolled a ballbearing down a pegged ramp toward slots in the bottom of the wooden surface. The panels, or slots, are numbered one through 11, and over a given number of shots, the demonstrator can predict with reasonable accuracy how many times the ball will end up in any given slot. The Warsaw Science Fair will be held at the school armory this weekend and nearly 300 individual projects will be on exhibit.
