The Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats perform March 19 in the Lakeview Middle School gymnasium, concluding the 2004-05 Lakeland Community Concert Association season. Acts include juggling, tumbling, balancing, gymnastics, traditional dance, authentic costuming and the “death-defying” Tower of Chairs.
Kosciusko County Red Cross honors volunteers Clay Anderson, Youth Services; Angel Fuller, Youth Fundraising; Elnora Cox, Lifetime Achievement Award; Tim Ziebarth, Volunteer of the Year; Keith “Doozy” Huffer, Blood Services; Lynn Daugird, Disaster Services; and Nancy Boston, Health and Safety Services. Officers for 2005 are Jill Debatty, chairman; Kevin Weaver, vice chairman; Mike Suhany, secretary; Burton Ramsey, treasurer. Executive director is Larry Peppel.

Lights went out all over town this morning, from 9:40 until 10:25 a.m., affecting nearly 3,000 customers in Warsaw, Claypool, Silver Lake and Burket according to NIPSCO operations superintendent Dave Moore. Five of the eight circuits out of the Warsaw substation were down. The outage affected the Warsaw Police Department; calls had to be routed through the sheriff’s department. Power to the justice building and jail was not affected.
Warsaw Band and Tigerette Winter Guard hosted an Indiana High School Color Guard Association contest March 3 at the old high school. Twenty color guards competed. Warsaw Color Guard gave an exhibition of their Roaring Twenties show; officers are Stacie Neiswonger, Kelly Collier, Amanda Kissinger and Amber Bussard.

Mentone students in the state solo and ensemble contest at Butler University were Marlene Brallier, Cynthia Ellsworth, Mike Orcutt, Barbara Decker, Darla Nelson and her accompanist, Donna Ring.
Manchester Community High School prom queen and her court includes queen Janet Marsh and escort Tom Roth, Marianna Hoffman and Dan Whitmore, Jill Krieg and Joe Blocher and Kay Heckman and Roger Staley.
Talma Junior High School basketball team accepted the trophy from Principal Marion Acton for having won the Fulton County championship over Richland Center. Team members are Dennis Meyer, Duane Gates, Sal Murcia, Don and Gary Acton, Gary Mosier, John Romine, Marion Boggs, Ernie Welborn and Coach Phil Pratt.

Pupils of Silver Lake High School, who won the one-act play contest at Sidney, were Boyd Kreis, Bob Shipley Helen Sittler and Kathryn Teeter. Mrs. Amiss directed them in “Which is the Way to Boston?” Sidney’s play was “Keep the Kettle Boiling,” directed by Miss Ireland. The cast included Arloene Fultz, Bob Leckrone, Roxie Bloom and Louise Cauffman.
With the weather getting nicer, any day now, Lake City Bank’s executive vice president, Elmer Funk, will be riding his bicycle to work.
Superintendent of Warsaw City Schools James Leffel announced that the first lessons for adult commercial classes in shorthand and typing will be given at 7 o’clock Friday at the senior high school building.
