Warsaw Wesleyan Church began celebrating its 100th anniversary Sunday. The theme for the celebration is “Century of Faith 1902-2002.” The congregation reminisced by singing old hymns and viewing pictures of former members. After the second worship service, everyone joined in a carry-in dinner with clowns Murkie and Misfit and birthday cake. The trustees announced plans to renovate the sanctuary, with a completion date of Sept. 22.

Local Girl Scouts joined those nationwide in forming a “Promise Circle” recently. At the Kosciusko County Courthouse lawn, 137 Girl Scouts joined 28 adult leaders and Mayor Jeff Plank in forming the circle, reciting the Girl Scout Promise and giving a Friendship Squeeze. The national event was part of the Girls Scouts’ 75th anniversary celebration.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stein, Warsaw, will go to Purdue University to see a performance of Euripides’ “The Trojan Women,” at the Loeb Playhouse. Their daughter, Stephanie, has a part in the play. Miss Stein, a sophomore, is majoring in English and creative writing. She has had several roles in the experimental theater at Purdue this season.

In honor of her son, Jerry, Mrs. Harry Weiss was hostess at a birthday party on his seventh birthday anniversary at their home in Warsaw. The following were guests: Joan Miller, Bud Stiffler, Ralph Sprong, Marjorie Wenger, Dickie Griffith, Helen and Bobbie Pifer, Andy Talbot, Floyd Olinger, John Rasor, Phyllis and Jerry Weiss.
