     Looking north while traveling on Fox Farm Road, the stone screening building, lowering blue digesting tanks and concrete carousels of Warsaw’s second wastewater treatment plant are visible across the fields, between bare tree branches. The state-of-the-art facility is expected to be fully operational this summer, ahead of schedule, according to Jones and Henry engineer Jeff Hersha.

     Six Warsaw Community High School students received Gold Key ratings in the 1988 Scholastic Art Awards Northwestern Indiana regional contest. The winners were Connie Kimpel, Cindy Dausman, Jason Essig, Kay Peterson, Angie Manuel and J.D. Leeka. More than 5,000 entrants competed from the South Bend area.

   Mayor Paul E. “Mike” Hodges cut the ribbon to officially open the Montgomery Ward catalog Store, 121 W. Center St., Warsaw. Also at the ribbon cutting ceremonies were: R.E. Dunham, district sales manager; Mrs. M. Barnett, local manager; R.C. Ritchey, house catalog units manager; and R.G. Obernesser, district sales manager. A large line of people witnessed the ceremonies and an additional large number of persons visited the store throughout the day.

    Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Price, Mr. and Mrs. Orval Alspaugh and Waveland Alspaugh, of Claypool, and Miss Evelyn Funk, of Warsaw, accompanied Miss Bonnie Jean Price to Fort Wayne recently. Miss Price is a student at the International Business College and will resume her studies after enjoying a month’s vacation at her home in Claypool.
