Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine presented a plaque to Mark Hughes for his 10 years of service to the sheriff’s department. Hughes was a dispatcher.
KidzArt has arrived at Akron Elementary School to provide a creative drawing program for students. Sixteen children meet each Friday after school for six weeks including Alexis Brazo, Mitch Randall, Jon Hagg, Sabrina Tunis. Instructor is Trena Sailer.
Staci Wright, daughter of Ken and Brenda Wright, Warsaw, was named to the National Dean’s List for fall semester 2004-05 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Wawasee running back Jordan Swain and tight end Ryan Kauchak were named to the north team for the annual North-South All-Star Game. Head coach Joe Rietveld will be assistant coach. Warsaw’s Brad Seiss was on the team in 2002.

Blanche Kline, Lakeland Loving Care Center, Milford, formerly of Syracuse, will celebrate her 100th birthday Feb. 25. She raised six children; there are 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Ann Ker, former Times-Union concert critic, is now director of music at the First Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Ill., a church attended by Abraham Lincoln.
Sue Ann Mitchell was named 1990 North Webster/Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce Person of the Year during dinner at the North Webster American Legion. Dick Long, 1989 Person of the Year and North Webster Elementary School principal, announced her name.

Washington School leaders in a contest for the most money turned in from the sale of tickets to the school’s fish fry are Darla Wyman and Jeff Dormire, first; Jon Carlson, second; Sherri Metzger, third; Vickie Younce, fourth; Cindy Klondaris, fifth; Steve Hillery, sixth. Ronnie and Polly Richards will do the frying.
A billiard tourney will be at Baker Boys’ Club through Feb. 27. Among the 67 signed up in three age groups are Terry Sumpter, Richard Howard, Paul Plucker, Dick Beyer, Mike Davidson, Jerry Kesler, Greg Colt, Dwight Smith and Phil Smith.

Helen Watkins, who for the past three years was an employee at the Warsaw Carnegie library, is taking over librarian Miriam Netter’s position as she takes two months leave of absence due to illness.
Forty neighbors and friends gathered at the home of Merl Summy and family, Clunette, heralding Charles Summy and wife, the former Amy Klinger of Atwood, with an old-fashioned belling. The couple was wed Feb. 6.
County nurse Marie Sohaski began state supervised tuberculosis tests in Warsaw and junior high schools Monday. She was assisted by Ott Miller, Robert Hall, Roy Patterson, all of Warsaw, and Mrs. George Plew, Pierceton.
