10 Years Ago Lee Cottage moved down the Ninth Street Hill in Winona Lake recently leaving Sunday Lane for its new site, in Winona village. The house, built in 1902, will be known as Trail House at its new location, a bicycle shop operated by Rob and Nancy Gast. The Trail House also will have land and lake sports equipment available for sale and rentals. It will be located along the greenway trail, which is scheduled for construction this year. The Gasts expect to open Trail House in May, according to Brent Wilcoxson of Winona Restoration.

75 Years Ago Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wolford, Warsaw, and Audrey Wagner, Tippecanoe Lake, motored to Jeffersonville recently, were admitted past the military guard line a mile out of the city because a Warsaw soldier recognized them. They visited Mrs. Wolford's brothers. Accompanied by the two soldiers armed with a military pass from Capt. Snyder, area provost marshal, they drove across the bridge over the Ohio River into Louisville and were permitted to drive about much of the city. They found it pretty well deserted, little activity, many guards, and the river almost back to its normal banks.
