   Whitko FFA and 4-H teams won state judging championships and will represent Indiana in national judging events this fall. The FFA team members were Matt Metzger, Jeremiah Geiger, Mindy Kessie and Adam Haegert. The team placed first in beef carcass evaluation, first in retail cut identification and fourth in pork carcass evaluation. They will represent Indiana at the 76th Annual FFA convention this fall.

     The culmination of a major building project was recognized Sunday afternoon at Akron Elementary School when the new additions at Mentone, Akron and Burket Elementary Schools were dedicated. A large crowd was on hand in the Akron gymnasium to hear Dr. Theodore Kowalski, a dean at Ball State University, give the dedicatory address. Fred McSherry, president of the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation board of trustees, presented plaques bearing the keys to the new buildings to three pupils representing the   schools.

    Miss Janet Essig, of Warsaw, will attend a United Nations-Washington, D.C. Seminar Feb. 14-23. The seminar is being conducted jointly by the Methodist Youth Fellowship of the North Indiana Conference of the Methodist Church and the Wesley Foundation at Ball State College. Janet will be one of a group of about 65 youth delegates from the northeastern third of Indiana. Janet is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Sport) Essig, Warsaw.

    Miss Maxine Pittenger, Bill Wagner, Miss Katie Ann Worley, Junior Eherenman, Phil Lucier, Miss Helen Garber, Owen Russell, Miss Vivian Myers, Ed Dickson, Frank Brown, Miss Berne Dean Rizer and Miss Imogene Irvine of Warsaw went to Fort Wayne recently  to hear Duke Ellington and his band.
     Miss Mary Edith and Miss Helen Watkins attended the play, “You Can’t Take It With You,” Saturday at the Palace Theater, South Bend.
