    Three employees were recently honored for their years of service with the Hoosier Water Company. Larry K. Fresh, regional vice president of General Waterworks Corp., presented the retirees with service recognition plaques: Esther Snell (11 years), Mary Louise Robbins (34 years) and Floyd "Gla" Robbins (34 years).

    Pierceton Cub Scout Pack 61 held its annual father and son cake contest and auction recently.

Grand prize winner was Billy Campbell, whose cake brought $24.

    Mr. and Mrs. Charles Robbins, of E. Center St., attended the commencement exercises held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Purdue University, West Lafayette. Their youngest daughter, Patricia, received the bachelor of science degree in the school of home economics.


75 Years Ago

    Mrs. Dora Spiegel, Pierceton, has without doubt the oldest coverlet in the county. It is said to be 175 years old. This rare bed covering was presented to her several years ago by Mrs. Lefever Gray. The coverlet was made by Mrs. Gray's great-grandmother, who grew the flax, spun the chain and wove the coverlet.
