10 Years Ago Just over a month ago, Tracey Kuhn made a decision. She wanted to be a part of the Toughman competition, so she approached Scott Zook, at the Warsaw YMCA and asked him to be her trainer. Then on January 24-25, Kuhn participated in the Toughman competition in Fort Wayne’s War Memorial Coliseum and came home a winner. She placed first out of four boxers, racking up two knockouts after her competitors quit during the matches. 25 Years Ago Members of the Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District gave out several awards at the annual dinner meeting recently. The most prestigious and coveted award is the Conservationist Of The Year and was presented to Tom and Becky Price this year. The Prices’ farm consists roughly 450 acres in Harrison Township and 150 acres in Van Buren Township. They raise hogs and grow corn, beans and wheat. 50 Years Ago Mr. and Mrs. James Hartle, Warsaw, returned recently from a three-week Florida vacation, including attendance at the American Academy of Orthopedic surgeons convention held in Miami. Mr. Hartle is president of the local Zimmer Manufacturing Co., manufacturers of orthopedic equipment. 75 Years Ago Ice boating on Warsaw vicinity lakes promises to become the most popular and thrilling of winter sports here. John Call converted his snipe sailboat from a summer water craft into an ice skimming boat entirely by his own handiwork. It attains the terrific speed of 70 miles per hour under a 40 miles per hour wind. Out in the high wind a few days ago a squall broke the mast in three places and Skipper Call and his passenger, Clarence Heitman ended up walking home, pushing the light craft.
