    Dewey Patterson was named Fireman of the Year for 1987 and was presented an award from Max Huffer, captain of the Warsaw volunteer firefighters.

    Winners for the Warsaw Optimist Club free throw contest are Mike Petro, a Washington grade school fifth-grader, and Mark Simpson, a seventh-grader at Warsaw Junior High School. There were 12 winners, each received a basketball. The two finalists received a year's membership to the local YMCA.

    The county commissioners and city of Warsaw officials Monday afternoon contracted to purchase from Motorola Inc., the only bidder, for $5,468.50, new two-way radio equipment for city and county motor vehicles.

    First violets of the spring have already appeared in Etna Green vicinity. Today Mrs. A.S. Brindley picked some purple violets in her front yard.

Dandelions have been appearing there for some weeks past.
