Mike Blackford was selected 1996 Warsaw Fireman of the Year. Blackford was selected for his dedication and service to the department and the community since 1969.

Lance Cpl. Matthew B. Yeiter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Ross Yeiter, Warsaw, has been recently promoted to his present rank in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is a combat engineer with the CO. B 6th Engr. Spt. Bn. 4th FSSG.

A 1977 Graduate of Warsaw Community High School, he joined the Marines November 1980.

Word was received that the Warsaw High School weekly newspaper, "Hi-Times," has won a Freedom Foundation editorial contest and top prize of $100.

Principal James Riley said the foundation had awarded top honors to the paper for high school editorials written by Sue Gast and John Bennett, both seniors.

February 28 1932

Police Officer J.H. Pittenger, of Warsaw, made a perfect score Thursday night at target practice of town marshals and police officers held at the indoor range in the Coleman building on Center Street. At target pistol practice Pittenger made 100 out of a possible 100. Sheriff Harley D. Person made second score, 97 out of a possible 100, and Deputy Joe Rovenstine was third, with 92 out of a possible 100.
