Why did the popularity of this eight-century-old Chinese game pass into oblivion? Mah Jongg sets were always attractive, sometimes elaborate, and often contained in handsomely carved teakwood chests. Pfc. Corwin W. Keaffaber, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene L. Fields, North Manchester, completed a harborcraft deck training course at the Army Transportation School, Fort Eustis, Va. He graduated from North Manchester High School in 1959, entered the Army in December 1960 and completed his basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. 75 Years Ago Ex-soldiers of Kosciusko County who have served at least one year in the U.S. Army, honorably discharged, under 36 years of age who can pass physical examination, are being sought to enlist in the regular army reserve corps by recruiting headquarters at South Bend. The Rev. York and 75 of his parishioners of the Atwood United Brethren Church are conducting devotional services Sunday at the county infirmary. Hobart Creighton presided as superintendent of the Sunday School. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Leiter, Packerton, are the parents of a son, Larry Eugene, born Dec. 23 at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brown.
