Stephanie Leslie, a 1990 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, recently earned a doctorate in molecular pharmacology and cancer therapeutics from the Roswell Park Cancer Institute division of the State University of New York, Buffalo, N.Y. During her graduate education she wrote and successfully obtained a three-year grant from the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program to study novel drugs capable of inhibiting gene expression as potentially better chemotherapy for breast cancer patients. She is the daughter of Kay Leslie, Warsaw, and John Leslie, Elkhart.

Atwood firefighters Barry and Terry Harmon fought to control a barn fire recently north of Crystal Lake Road. Firefighters were unable to save the 100-year-old barn, owned by William Brown, Warsaw. Ashes from burning trash apparently caused the fire. A car outside the barn was destroyed, as was a grassy area between the trash and the barn.

Rev. and Mrs. Gordon Beck and children, Gary, and Janet, of Winona Lake, are spending the weekend at Pokagon State Park near Angola.
Mrs. Ora Stamper and sons, Larry and Dean, of Warsaw, have returned from a two week vacation in Hollywood and Miami, Fla. Her sister, Mrs. Hannah Danner, of Shelbyville, accompanied them.

Mr. and Mrs. Tony Mathis and daughter, Jo Ellen, who for the past three weeks have enjoyed a vacation in Florida, are expected to return to their home in Warsaw this Friday.
Miss Vernice Urynowicz and Donald Shoemaker, of Claypool, were among the guests present recently at the Lambda Chi Omega dance at the Eagles Hall.
