Dot Lynn, first-grade and Reading Recovery teacher at Akron Elementary School, was nominated by her colleagues for the Outstanding Service Award because of her contributions and service to the Tippkee Reading Council. She will be honored by the Indiana State Reading Association at the opening session of the annual conference on March 8 at the Convention Center in Indianapolis.
MILFORD - A king and queen were crowned at the Lakeland Loving Care Center during the Valentine party recently. Candidates were Devon Miller, Reese Brewer and Harold McKibbin for king and Jeannette Smith, Dolly Ritter and Dorothy McKibbin for queen. Mr. and Mrs. Harold McKibbin won the honors.
Sandra Kay Polk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene H. Polk, Claypool, will be awarded her nurse's cap this evening (Feb. 15) at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
BOURBON - Fifty Bourbon school children have given a part of their skin to save the life of Mrs. Everett Patterson, seriously burned Dec. 12. Physicians said skin grafting was necessary to save her life and an appeal was made to the school children. If the grafting is successful, 50 more children will be used in a week, since it will take almost 150 children to obtain enough skin to cover the burns.
