Grace College men’s basketball sophomore forward Matt Abernethy was named first team all-conference by the Mid-Central Conference this week.
Abernethy has been named to the first team in each of his two years at Grace. In just two years, Abernethy has already scored more than 1,000 points and he is currently at 1,422 career points, 22nd in school history.

Warsaw Christian School was the first school in this area to participate in the World Book Read-a-thon, and earned five sets of World Book encyclopedias, five sets of Childcraft books and six sets of the encyclopedia of Science for the school library. Read-a-thon champions were: Justin Hartman, kindergarten; David Hoffert, grade 1; Lucas Harvey, grade 6; Marc Ellenwood, grade 2; Jennie Teghtmeyer, grade 4; Stephen Hoffert, grade 5; and Sarah Galvin, grade 3.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Whiteneck, Chapman Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Kintzel, Warsaw, and Mr. and Mrs. William Mollenhour, Warsaw, have returned from a three-week vacation in Florida.
Paul Lynn Pletcher, son of Paul C. Pletcher, Pierceton, has been elected to Sigma Tau Delta, national English honorary, at Ball State Teachers College, Muncie. He is a junior.

Mr. and Mrs. James J. Gallagher have returned from a two-months visit with Dr. and Mrs. Knowlton of Pasadena, Calif.
Robert Strauss returned recently to Babson Institute, Babson Park, Mass., after spending the weekend at Winona Lake with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Strauss.
Miss Betty Arnold, of Valparaiso, student at Purdue University, Lafayette, was a weekend guest of Robert Strauss at the Fred Strauss residence in Winona Lake.
