Jane Greene, president and CEO of Cardinal Center, announced that Michelle Boxell will be the company’s new community relations manager, replacing Sheena Whitaker, who has taken a new job at Beverly Healthcare in Fort Wayne. Boxell is a lifelong resident of Warsaw, serving as president on the board of Boys & Girls Clubs of Kosciusko County since 2001 and for Habitat of Humanity.
Patrick Kavanaugh, executive director of the Christian Performing Artists’ Fellowship and MasterWorks Festival in Winona Lake, is forming the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra. Rehearsals and performances will be at the Rodeheaver Auditorium in Winona Lake.

A statewide academic decathlon was held at eight different sites in mid-January. As a result, 22 schools qualified for the state competition on the University of Indianapolis campus Feb. 10. Wawasee High School, the only school from Kosciusko County to go on to state competition, was the 22nd school to qualify for the meet. Teams are competing for the right to represent Indiana at the National Finals April 29 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Who’s Who of Women Executives has named Jean Northenor a member. The longtime GOP leader and banking executive joins 10,000 professional women with this honor. She was a commissioner on the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Indiana, former county auditor and former president of the Warsaw Community Development Corporation.
Warsaw’s Mike Brown will be on tonight’s telecast of Hoosier Millionaire.

Karen Conley, 16, Warsaw High School junior and daughter of Kathryn Conley, combined the Valentine’s Day heart with a bit of ice skating. Karen is the Times-Union Calendar Girl for February.
Despite our sub-zero temperatures and snow, more than two dozen robins were sighted at the home of Robert K. Moore, 1124 Country Club Dr. Moore noticed a single pair on his lawn Saturday, and Sunday he counted 24 in his nearby Hawthorn trees nibbling berries.
Millard Stover Hire, Syracuse, was officially inducted into the 1964 Marine Racing Hall of Fame, power boat racing’s most select organization, at the 28th annual ceremony. Hire qualified in the BU Class.

Led by their star forwards, Eugene Estep and George Phillips, the Warsaw Merchants won their second game of the season over a strong Bourbon independent quintet by the score of 56-31 at the local armory last night. Warsaw, slow to start, was behind at the end of the first quarter and held a slim margin as the first half ended. The Merchants’ powerhouse attack began to function in the third period, turning the game into a rout. Phillips and Estep led the offensive attack with 18 and 17 points respectively. King, guard, had nine points for Bourbon.
Churches of Kosciusko County are manifesting a growing interest in the Automobile-Go-to-Church movement. Committees are being formed to contact owners with the objective of having the largest number of automobiles parked about the churches on the first Sunday of Lent and Easter.
