10 Years Ago Monday was senior night for the Warsaw gymnastic team, and the seniors got the job done for the Tigers. Dana Wentzel and Pauline Campbell, Warsaw's two seniors, placed first and second, respectively in the all-around competition as Warsaw defeated Manchester 89. 375-77.35. Along with winning the all-around competition with a 32.725, Wentzel placed first in each individual event as well.
25 Years Ago Park officials hope to have the multi-unit play station at Center Lake completed by opening day May 30. Warsaw City Park and Recreation board members unanimously approved plans to request a $30,000 additional appropriation from the the Warsaw City Council. The appropriation would be used for landscaping, curbing and sidewalk repairs in the area.
50 Years Ago Miss Rebecca Pletcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pletcher, Pierceton, has been pledged to Delta Gamma Sorority at Purdue University. Rebecca is majoring in clothing and textiles at Purdue. She's a member of the Home Ec Club, University Choir, Block “P,: the Young Republicans Club and the Exponent staff. Carl W. Burt, superintendent of the Warsaw Community Schools, is attending a national conference of school superintendents in Atlantic City, N.J.
75 Years Ago C.W. Smith Jr., of Detroit, Mich., will be arriving at the home of his mother, Mrs. C. W. Smith. The two will leave for Atlanta, Ga., to visit with Mrs. Smith's daughter, Mrs. P.C. Hobson, and family. Mrs. Smith will remain there for several weeks, but her son will visit further in Florida. Mr. Smith will return in two weeks to Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. William Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Laurien and son, Jack, of Winona Lake, left recently in a new trailer for St. Petersburg, Fla. They expect to be gone for three or four weeks.
