    Jordan Rantz, a fifth-grade honor student at North Webster Elementary School, set a national record in the 50-yard breaststroke in the 10-and-under boys division at the Mid-States Quad meet recently at IUPUI Natatorium, Indianapolis.

Rantz, son of Peter and Theresa Rantz, broke the old record of 32.31 seconds set in 1989 with a new time of 32.16. This also set a new Indiana Association record in the event.

    POTPOURRI - A Very Good Deed - A former Leesburg resident can take pride in his role in the recent lifesaving effort for a 13-day infant in Guam. Major Pilot Rolland E. Robinson, son of Earl and Irene Robinson, Leesburg was at the helm last week when a tanker crew, from the 384th Air Refueling Wing, flew a lifesaving incubator part from Clark Air Base in the Philippines to Guam, so the infant could be incubated for an emergency flight from Guam Naval Hospital to Hawaii. The incubator broke down, before a scheduled evacuation, necessitating the emergency delivery of the part.

    Damage is expected to surpass $150,000 as the result of a fire that gutted the Home Furniture Mart on Ind. 15 at the north edge of Warsaw early this morning (Feb. 5), destroying the contents and leaving only rubble and the shell of the quonset hut type building.
