Meteorologist Larry Mowry, of WSBT-TV 22, broadcasted Wednesday's noon news live from Lakeview Middle School. The visit was result of the partnership between Lakeview and WSBT through the Weatherbug system. After the news report, Mowry spoke to Lakeview's seventh-graders, who are studying weather, and gave a presentation in the auditorium on how meteorologists forecast weather.

Jim Kessler, head coach for the Grace College Lancers, was surprised when time was set aside before the start of his team's 84-67 home win over Indiana-Purdue at Indianapolis to honor him for 10 years of outstanding service. A 1970 graduate of Grace, Coach "K" returned to work as an assistant before taking over the head coaching responsibilities in 1977. Kessler played as a center and forward on the 1970 squad that finished with a 26-6 mark, the schoolÕs best until until 1983, and went on to finish second in the NCCAA national tourney. Since 1977, Kessler has amassed a 198-125 win-loss record, winning 63 percent of his contests.

A photo on the front page of the Times features Dennis Floor as he celebrates his 10th birthday on Valentine's Day at the Adams Grade School in Warsaw. Showering Dennis with valentines were seven girls in the class: Pam Hire, Connie Neher, Diane Heath, Frances Lemler, Tam Hire, Debbie Scott and Janie Becker. The scene was Mrs. Don Schade's fourth-grade class at Adams. Dennis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Floor, Jr., Warsaw.

Mrs. Milon Horn, assisted by Mrs. Helen Mellot, entertained recently on the occasion of the 10th birthday anniversary of her son, Peter Alden. Den I of the ÒCubÓ Scouts were guests at the Valentine party. Guests were: Scout Den Chief Robert Gast, Allen Rasor, Bruce Mish, John Bishop, Richard Zimmer, Alden Horn, Norman Walton, Robert Walton, Junior Kratzsch, Norbert Myers and Scout Keith Horn.
