Hoosier Basketball Magazine has released its list of the top 100 senior girls basketball players for the 2001-2002 season. From this list of 100, 40 girls and 10 alternates will be invited to participate in the Top 40 Workout. Five girls from the local area have been named to the top 100 list - Hilary O'Connell (Warsaw), Shanna Zolman (Wawasee), Carol Duncan (NorthWood), Amber Feldman  (Triton) and Tabitha Pratt (Tippecanoe Valley).

Channel 33 (WKJG-TV of Fort Wayne) featured a Bible quiz tournament at the Village Green Free Methodist Church on Wayne Trace, Fort Wayne. Three of the 29 teams competing were from the Winona Lake Free Methodist Church, and they carried home two trophies. Young teen girls, coached by Chris Knebel, captured the second-place trophy; and the senior teens, coached by Les Rice, brought home the first-place trophy for their division. The young teen boys team is coached by Al Blakely.

Sherry Fisher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fisher, of Atwood, attended the National Collegiate Press Conference in New York City over the weekend. Sherry is the editor of the Manchester College weekly newspaper "Oak Leaves."
Phillip W. Neff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Neff, Claypool, is attending Purdue University extension in Fort Wayne. He expects to major in electrical engineering. Phillip recently completed a four-year enlistment in the Navy.

Rowan Howe, student at Manchester College, is spending the weekend at Winona Lake with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. Bruce Howe, and family.
Among Warsawans who heard Kathryn Meisle, Metropolitan opera star, at the Shrine temple in Fort Wayne recently were Mrs. John A. Sloane, Mildred and Helen Sloane and Frances Sharp.
