10 Years Ago Katie Harris, a freshman at Lakeland Christian Academy, participated in a mission trip to Nicaragua. Katie, and her father, Dr. Mark Harris, as well as three other members of the United Methodist Church of Akron, spent a week in San Juan del Sur, a village by the Pacific Ocean. As part of a 40-member Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity team, they helped test, treat and bring improved vision to more than 3,000 people. 25 Years Ago The Warsaw Christian Eagles basketball team recently captured the Faith Christian Academy’s Invitational Tournament held in Auburn. Chaney, formerly of Warsaw, has accepted a position with the U.S. Department of Defense. He is now assigned to the Army at Warrenton, Va., for training as a radio technician, until mid-April when he will be leaving for overseas assignment. Bruce is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Chaney, Warsaw. 75 Years Ago Around the hot stove in C.A. Rovenstine’s Atwood grocery store you can always find a group of men discussing the state of the nation, basketball, fishing and kindred masculine subjects with a keener knowledge and wiser philosophy than their big-city cousins. The grocery store has been in operation for 60 years.
