WINONA LAKE - Lisa LeMasters was recognized at the town council meeting for her service to Winona Lake as the 1997 recipient of the Bill Reneker Memorial Community Service Award.
Secretary of the Winona Lake Housing Authority and a member of the board of directors for the Winona Lake Historical Society, LeMasters is better known in the town as the "flower lady," Judy Reneker said. LeMasters has designed and planted flower gardens in many areas of the town.

Wawasee won its first regional crown since 1978 and Warsaw had a pair of individual titlists while placing eighth at Goshen in the second round of state tourney action in high school wrestling.
The Warriors won the Carroll championship with 86 points. Warsaw's individual champions were Billy Ford at 112 pounds and Mark Whitehead at 177.

The Red Cross blood program at Grace College was a success and the first to go over quota since January 1954.
Three donors qualified for the Gallon Club: Brother Anton Schick, of Our Lady of the Lake Seminary, Syracuse; Mrs. Forrest Freed, Milford; and Glenn Carpenter, Warsaw. Top donor of the day, Ralph Frantz, Warsaw, reached the three-gallon mark.
