    Smokie's Video, in downtown Pierceton, recently held a Christmas promotion giveaway. The prize was a 31-inch RCA television. The winner was Ana Morales of Pierceton.

January 3 1983

    Joyce Paxton recently won top prize in the "How Fast Can You Type" contest sponsored by Executive Office Machines Inc., Warsaw.

Paxton won over four other finalists, taking home a Royal Satellite II Electronic Typewriter. Other finalists included Evelyn Bledsoe, first runnerup; Michelle Bormet, second runnerup; Liz Kelly, third runnerup; and Teresa Rowe, fourth runnerup.

50 Years Ago

January 3 1958

    Kosciusko County's first baby of 1959 may have come a day late (he was born at 6 p.m. Jan. 2) but he also arrived a bit early. Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Fuller, of the Fox-Farm Road northwest of Warsaw, gave birth to her son in the Breading ambulance while it was heading through downtown Warsaw, en route to the Murphy Medical Center, from Pierceton. Both mother and son (and father too) were doing fine when photographed this morning at the hospital.

    Doris and Dorothy Jackson of Winona Lake and Betty Kelly and Jeanne Miller of Warsaw on Saturday morning appeared on the Wolf and Dessauer juvenile hour over station WOWO, Fort Wayne. The Jacksons played a piano duet, while Kelly and Miller entertained with a vocal duet.
