Lincoln Elementary School third grade is preparing for Circus Day Jan. 28 by drawing and painting their own sweatshirts. Jean Craig has assisted the third-graders with this project for 12 years.
Josh Ousley, son of Mitch and Merla Ousley, Warsaw, was named head football coach of Taylor High School, Kokomo. He was a standout football and baseball player at Warsaw Community High School, class of 1993, and graduated from Anderson University in 1997 with a degree in education. Before moving to Taylor and teaching special needs students, he spent four years as an assistant coach at Triton High School.

 In conjunction with National Heart Month (February), area certified arobics instructors Mona Baum, Barb Summers, Tammy Taylor, Debbie Miller, Barb Trobaugh, Jody Pontius and Jim Mills will present an exhibition during halftime of the Warsaw/Plymouth varsity basketball game Feb. 2 at Warsaw Community High School.
Drug Abuse Resistance Education is a 17-week course taught in the schools by trained police officers Lee Ann Richardson, Bret Richardson, Mike Cox and Lt. Lance Grubbs. The DARE program was started this year in the sixth grades of Warsaw schools.
Angie Merrill, Mentone, a senior at Tippecanoe Valley, was named winner of the Kosciusko County DAR Award. She won the 1989-90 Good Citizen contest at the school.

 City street department employee Melvin Himes operated a large grader to clear snow from the first heavy snowfall of the year. Pat Ragan, street and sanitation commissioner, asked that all cars be removed from the downtown streets by 11 p.m. so that workers can remove the snow during the night.
Freshman newspaper “Impact” staff: co-editors, Beth Rasor, Dan Benson; feature writers, Kristy Lowe, Connie Horton, Linda Lowman, Patricia Murray; sports writer, Charles Huffman; typists, Gary Reed, Mike Martin, Rita Golding, Connie Watkins, Marta Robinson. Faculty advisors are Patricia Latta and Jack Baker.
Jon Mauk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melton Mauk, and Junior Slone, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Slone, both of Warsaw, “squared off” at the Baker Boys Club. Ardel Hanna is giving boxing instructions this winter. Executive director is Robert Lichtenwalter.

Mrs. B.O. Worrell’s First Baptist Church Sunday School class costumed as “kids” for a party. Winners: Odetta Nelson, Betty Caywood and Donald Schaffer. Others in the class: Helen Draper, Phyllis Lindsay, Helen Kehler, Sarah Ellen Orr, Norma Jean Russell, Katherine Snyder, Eloise Shirey, Jean Lucas, Ruth Braddock, Mary Alice James, Elizabeth Hall, Frances Cook, Amelia Jobe, Betty Boyer, Louise Nelson, Betty Heagy, Lorene Pierce, Virginia Scott, Mary Norris, Wilma Stockmyer and Mrs. A.W. Littrell. Sunday school superintendent is Clarence Braddock.
Dr. J.M. Byler, one of Warsaw’s oldest, most respected retired physicians, celebrates his 93rd birthday March 15. He has practiced here for 60 years, retiring a number of years ago.
