    WaveOne Communications, LLC, has now brought local Internet access to residents of Atwood and Etna Green. For the first time, households within the 858 phone exchange can send and receive e-mail and explore the vast reaches of the Internet, all without incurring long-distance phone charges.

    Mr. and Mrs. J. Robert Bishop, of Leesburg, received the state's Hoosier Homestead Award from Lt. Gov. John Mutz, Indiana's Commission of Agriculture, and U.S. Sen. Richard G. Lugar. The award recognizes those farms owned by the same family for 100 years or more. The Bishop family trace their heritage to 1837 in Kosciusko County.

January 29 1958

    Pfc. Donald M. Waggoner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Waggoner, Etna Green, was chosen to march in the honor guard for President Eisenhower's reception in Paris recently.

Don said the color guard was made up of military police from all 15 countries in NATO. They were in full dress and played all the national anthems.

    Kosciusko County was enveloped in a heavy fog early Tuesday. Preceding the fog there was a frost that left sidewalks and pavements in a slippery condition and trolley wires covered with ice.
