 The Festival of Trees coloring contest winners are Olivia Campbell, Olivia Zellers, Noah Twombly, Ryker Fritzel, Lacey Helfers, Emma Bartley, Hannah Haines, Logan Holloway, Ashley Helfers, Jessenia Ramos, Jasmine Ponce, Emily Williamson, Cameron Fritzel, Morgan Yoder and Natalie Fritz.
Edgewood Middle School students will present “Christmas Comes to Detroit Louie,” directed by Veronica Helser, Dec. 9. The thief, Detroit Louie, is played by Chris Courtois; the blind girl, Susan Bonitati. Other students include Daniel Hoyt, Mackin Bannon, Ashley Skaggs, Brittnee Bullington, Laura Eberhardt, Kristen Damon, Macy Hammer, Melissa Mundy, Chase Smith, Dagoberto Sanchez, Susan Grothouse and Joseph Antram.

Winners of the 1989-90 DAR Good Citizen Essay Contest are Angie Merrill, Tippecanoe Valley High School; Kara Kilgore, Warsaw Community High School; and Andrew M. Eberly, Wawasee High School. The essays were entitled “Our American Heritage and My Responsibility to Preserve It.”
Warsaw Community High School Principal Dick Kline and WCHS student Jerry Richardson have announced that a unique Christmas recording is now available for purchase. “Noel” is an album of 10 traditional Christmas songs performed by WCHS choirs under the direction of Scott Avery and accompanied by Diane Skinner.

Times-Union November Calendar Girls are Ginger Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brown, and Kathy Dorsey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Dorsey. Both are Syracuse High School students.
Lake Wawasee’s 44-year-old landmark, South Shore Inn, was destroyed by fire at 3:53 a.m. Oct. 29. Firemen from North Webster, Cromwell and Syracuse kept the blaze from spreading to nearby homes. The inn, one of two hotels on Lake Wawasee, was in the process of being renovated.
Lawrence “Mike” Mahoney, Akron, was named deputy sheriff of Fulton County by Sheriff Willard Clark. Formerly employed with Jim Lewis Surge in Akron, he assumed his post Nov. 1, replacing Don Karns who resigned due to ill health.

  Water company employee Ben Andereck brought into the Daily Times office a branch of raspberries from a vine in his backyard. June Hall, Pierceton, sent a twig from a cherry tree, which was in full bloom from the heavy rains, from her yard.
Claypool High School’s team won the Kosciusko County high school softball championship at Pierceton by defeating Syracuse High School 4 to 2.
Hal Pottenger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thurl Pottenger, is the first Warsaw Scout to attain the rank of Eagle Scout in the past several years, with Troop 30 of the Methodist Church. Bill Swihart, Troop 30, and Dick Rife, Troop 36, attained First Class status.
