    The Pierceton Canasta Club met Jan. 21 in the home of Donna Werstler.

Canasta was played with high won by Ann Stump and low by Bev Garman. Ruth Menzie was awarded the doorprize.

January 28 1983

    Gene O'Hara, Warsaw, won a television and portable cassette player by collecting the most money in pledges during the annual Diabetes Bike-A-Thon. He rode 132.6 miles and collected $1,003.35 this year, and for the past three years, he has been responsible for more than $2,000 in pledges. Kevin Lyon received a $50 savings bond for his second place effort of $47.42, and Jim Fisher won an athletic tote bag for collecting $44.08.

January 28 1958

    Billy Dorsey, 17, of Syracuse, a top-notch former 4-H Junior Leader president and a leader in Kosciusko County 4-H work, has been selected as one of four Indiana delegates to the National 4-H conference in Washington, D.C., in June.

Dorsey, a senior in the Syracuse School, has participated in nearly every 4-H project available to boys since 1950. He was selected on his record of achievement in the 4-H program during the past eight years.

    Mary Lou Berkey, Betty Lou Goshorn and Barbara Jean are three honor pupils of the sixth grade of the Leesburg School. Each received an average of "A" on examinations and as a final semester grade. Their instructor is Miss Ruth Templin.
