Conner Sherwin, 5, gives Trinity, a miniature horse, a friendly stroke. Trinity was born Jan. 1, weighing in at 20 pounds and 19 inches tall. The horse belongs to Conner's grandmother, Joyce Sherwin, who lives north of North Manchester.
Kosciusko County Boys & Girls Club honored the boy and girl of 2003; Nikkole Owens, a freshman at Indiana-Purdue, Fort Wayne, and William Knepper, a freshman at the University of Saint Francis, Fort Wayne.

The Munson Auto Sales team, led by John Schrecengost’s 748, rolled 3,258 actual on the second night of the tourney to win the team event in the Warsaw City Bowling Tournament. Participants include: Bob Gates, Stan Galbreath, Brian Bibler, Allan McKrill, Mike Bott, Scott VanKirk, Tony Elliott, Larry Brown, Gil Harrison, Bob Twaites, Mike Zellinger, Mike Weirick, Roger Hyde, Ralph Stahley, Mike Brown and Mike Gilliam.
Lakeland Snowmobile Club is sponsoring its annual Winter Carnival Jan. 14 and 15 in North Webster. Snow Queen contestants are Jennifer Lynn Corn, Sheryl Niccum and Shelly Moser.

County Clerk T. Ethna Scott administers the oath of office to County Auditor Noble Blocker, Syracuse, and Southern District Commissioner Lawrence Butts, Beaver Dam. Both men were elected in 1962 but did not take office until Jan. 1, 1964. Clerks to Mr. Blocker's office are: Mrs. Betty Busselberg, first deputy; Mrs. Elnora Cox, second; Jeanne Endicott, third; and Kathryn Teel, fourth.
Fred Traster Sr. is the first crossing guard to be hired by the town of Syracuse to assist children to cross Ind. 13. Jack Lecount is school patrolman.

George Heaton, Rowan Howe, Roger Nusbaum and George Hatfield are home for the holiday vacation and are outlining 1939 plans for the new airport. The boys have all taken their solo flights and will be the instructors in the new enterprise.
The Winona Polar Bear Club increased in membership this year when six youths took their third annual New Year’s Day lake bath by breaking the ice on Winona Lake. Bathers this year were three Howe's: Bobby, Bruce Jr. and Rowan (Bo); two Strausses: Freddie and Wilbur “Jim: and Grover Sims Jr. The boys got up early Sunday to chop a large hole, a beautiful winter day. Last year was cold, the ice 10 inches thick. The Bears were encouraged by people sitting in cars or standing on the beach across from the Winona Hotel. John Boice had his moving picture camera ready.
