10 Years Ago Scott Wiley and Ruth Voreis were named Man and Woman of the Year 2002 at the 91st Annual Warsaw/Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce dinner meeting recently. Wiley is executive director of Baker Youth Clubs and corporate services specialist at the Bowen Center. Voreis is executive administrator for RR Donnelley & Sons and a Cardinal Center volunteer. 25 Years Ago Sometimes finishing second is just as good as first, and if you don’t believe that just ask the members of the Warsaw Community High School wrestling team. Saturday, the Tigers placed second, behind Goshen, in the Northern Lakes Conference wrestling meet, but they weren’t real disappointed about it. Why not? Because the second-place finish in the tourney allowed them to bring home the overall NLC team title. The Tigers had completed the regular season with a perfect 7-0 record against the rest of the conference. 50 Years Ago The 18 below recorded on The Times-Union thermometer from 8 to 9 p.m. last night, is believed to be the coldest mark in this city in 27 years. By noon today thermometers had struggled up to 5 below. On Jan. 22, 1936, a low of 19 below, was reported. Between Jan. 22 and Feb. 20 of that year there were 22 days of sub-zero weather.
