Akron Elementary School's Spell Bowl Team recently placed first in its class during the annual Hoosier Spell Bowl competition at Goshen Middle School. Members are Kati Brady, Brandon Bucher, Mandi Christensen, Courtney Flannery, Shandi Gagnon, Kara Graves, John Grossman, Katie Harris, Matthew Hawley, Chaitra Jewell, Aaron Reed, Nick Thieke, Sarah Tillman, Josh Vardaman and Adam Weaver. Coach is Priscilla Burdge.
The Warsaw Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks recently named its October and November Students-of-the-Month from Warsaw Community High School.
Three charter members of Agnes Pruyn Chapman chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, were honored at the 50th anniversary dinner in Westminster Hotel.
Work was commenced this morning digging trenches for the foundation for the $6,500 park pavilion on Center Lake beach. This will be a pavilion, not a basketball gymnasium.
