    Pieces of firefighter history were given to the City of Warsaw recently at the city council meeting. Robert L. Fuson donated a 1912 American La France fire truck to the city. According to a letter from Fuson to the city, the fire truck is “arguably the earliest internal combustion fire truck still operational in the United States.” The truck is the “most famous antique fire truck in the world by virtue of its participation in the Great American Race, including nine annual races across the United States.”

    Anyone recently passing by the Wagon Wheel Playhouse may have gotten the idea local entertainment has been sizzling. Sarah Whitney, general manager of the theater, said they’ve received several calls from people wanting to know if there had been a fire in the building. Actually, workers are currently dismantling parts of the building known as the Wagon Wheel Mall, which formerly housed several stores. However, the work is being done delicately in order to save some of the wood.

   The Tatapocheon 4-H club installed officers at a banquet held recently at Horn’s Sunnymede restaurant honoring the 4-H mothers. Ramona Enyeart is the retiring president, and Carolyn Howard was installed as the new president. Both girls have completed seven years of club work. Ramona is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Truman Enyeart, of Silver Lake. Carolyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Howard, also of Silver Lake.

    Members of the Warsaw High School debating team went to Purdue University, West Lafayette, recently to attend the annual state debate conference in session there. Those in the group who attended were the instructor and sponsor, H.H. Crabill, and debaters Betty Rhoades, Jean Thomas, Bob Towns, Bud Eschbach, Hal Pottenger, Arthur Bloomer, Isobel Rarick, Baja Rowabaugh, Frances Cook, Junior Eherenman and Bill Wagner.
