Freshman Courtney Lavender scored 19 to lead Lakeland Christian Academy to a 55-38 home win over Portage Christian. Lavender hit 8 of 10 field goals. Also for LCA, Janina Harman scored 13, Erin Silveus 6, Karis Bushen 6, Rebekah Arnett 3, Marah Shaffer 4, Sarah Haupert 2 and Heather Jones 2.
Mark A. Peterson, administrator at Miller's Merry Manor, presented Josephine Clingenpeel with a cut glass candy dish as a retirement gift recently. Clingenpeel has been with the nursing home 17 years, serving as both an assistant cook and cook. She started working for Miller's when it was in the Old County Home and was the first cook in the new building.
Mayor Jack Engle and Captain Truman Robinson are shown in the recent edition of "War Cry," official publication of the Salvation Army. The mayor is shown dropping money into the Christmas Kettle.
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Smith, recently married Warsaw couple, was belled by more than 50 friends who ushered them through the downtown streets in an automobile parade which included 15 or more cars. The couple was married some two weeks ago at Winona Lake.
