  MTEMS Celebrates 25th Year - The first garage, a converted Murphy Medical Center warehouse, was kindly referred to as “the barn.” “It was cold in winter and hot in the summer,” said 25-year Multi-Township Emergency Medical services veteran Nancy Huffer, speaking of the organization’s first quarters. “The sleeping rooms were in a loft. It wasn’t unusual to find snow on the bed in January.” Multi-Township’s quarters were located along Lake Street - now Ind. 15 - “where the Marsh Supermarket meat department is,” Bill Darr said.

    Mayor Jeff Plank has appointed Lt. Craig Allebach to take over as Warsaw police chief effective Jan. 1. Allebach will replace current chief Ted Ward who will fill Allebach’s lieutenant position. He is an open-water diver and EMS trained first-responder and has attended many police schools during his years with the department. He is a 1977 graduate of Grace College with a major in sociology. He has been on the department for 25 years.

    Breading cigar store served free coffee to everyone all day before Christmas and gallons and gallons were consumed by the patrons and domino players congregating there. Looked like a reunion of cigar store alumni as former Warsawans back home for Christmas gathered to meet old pals.

    Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Craig and son, Jerry, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Benton who left about a week ago for California, arrived at their destination Friday. They expect to be gone until after the first of the year.
     Miss Blanche Stone recently resumed her position with the Farm Bureau after enjoying a two weeks’ vacation with her sister, Miss Ruth Stone in Arizona.
