December 26 1998

    Members of the Warsaw Community High School Percussion Ensemble competed in the contest for soloists at the "Day of Marching Percussion" at Morehead (Ky.) State University.

Senior Brandon Bussard won the award for best snare drummer. This was Bussard's second consecutive year to win in this category. Sophomore Valerie Amstutz won best marimba soloist.

December 26 1983

    Moore's Plumbing and Heating won the Warsaw city bowling leagues team handicap award with a score of 3,231. Team members are Mark Hanna, Walt Wilson, Ted Moore, Doug Moore and Dan Brumfield.

The winner of the team actual award was Bertsch Vending with a score of 3,125. Members are Jim Landis, Larry Pozorski, John Hammersley, Stan Galbreath and Clifford Thomas.

December 26 1958

    Jerry Cenoweth, Jerry Border and Leanell Rettinger, Bourbon High School students, are competing in the national junior vegetable judging contest at Biloxi, Miss. The team was accompanied by Nelson Cook, instructor, Larry Hall and Irene Martin.


75 Years Ago

December 26 1933

    Art Rhodes as Santa Claus with a truck load of new and reconditioned toys, repaired by members of the Warsaw volunteer fire department, were distributed Christmas eve, to 400 children in 125 families. The distribution, as well as repair of toys, was under the direction of the Warsaw Fire Department.

In addition, 175 pounds of candy was distributed and 400 tangerine oranges. Joe Foote donated two bushels of apples and the Jet White grocery two crates of oranges.
